The new Spice and Wolf anime is here, and for those who haven’t seen it yet, now is a great time to jump in. That’s because Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf now has an English dub, and it brings back the original actors.
While the show premiered earlier this month, fans who were waiting for an English dub can finally watch the first episode now. What’s more, watching the original anime isn’t required to watch this.
The New Spice and Wolf Anime Remakes the Original
Spice and Wolf is a beloved anime from the late 2000s, and while the light novel series it’s based on concluded its story years ago, the anime has not gotten a third season despite its popularity.
Finally, fans were thrilled with the announcement of the new anime titled Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf. It’s not a proper sequel though. Instead, it’s a new adaptation of the light novel.
Effectively, this new anime is a reboot expected to cover the story of the first two anime seasons. After all, this remake will have a two-cour run.
While the first episode’s intro is a bit different, the events there are mostly the same as the original anime. The first three episodes cover practically the same story.

Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf Brings Back Original English Dub Cast
Even though it’s a remake made by a new studio in Passione (of Ishura and Yuri Is My Job! fame), the show’s Japanese version brings back the original cast.
This is also the case with the English dub, as the former cast members are back to voice their characters. For now, the confirmed cast includes:
- Brina Palencia (Tony Tony Chopper in One Piece) as Holo
- J. Michael Tatum (Sebastian Michaelis in Black Butler) as Lawrence
- Austin Tindle (Neito Monoma in My Hero Academia) as Yarei
- Emi Lo (Maomao in The Apothecary Diaries) as Myuri
- Doug Jackson (Iwami in Noragami Aragoto) as Village Chief

Where to Watch Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf in English Dub
As the Japanese version is streaming in Crunchyroll, the English dub is also available on the platform in the US and other select regions.
New episodes of the dub are released every Tuesday, but because it only premiered today, the English dub version is behind by two episodes.
