For years, South Park has been a staple name in the entertainment industry since it was released in 1997 and the show doesn't stop there as the creators of the comedy animated series, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, make almost a billion following a deal for five more seasons and fourteen spinoff films and it will remain until 2027, making the show age like wine up to 30 years in existence.

Some would say South Park is a classic comedy, well, it's true and there would definitely be more as a statement in their official website confirms that the series would have five more seasons, having 30 in total on the Comedy Central channel and that there are 14 spinoff films about to arrive as well, two of which would be releasing this year. All of these would be part of almost a billion in a deal they made, $900 million dollars to be exact.

This would make South Park on Comedy Central the longest-running scripted series existing since 1997 as it would run until 2027 as far as the five additional seasons making a total of 30 all in all. Not only that, they would have 14 original made-for-streaming movies as well on Paramount+. This deal has been secured by the creators of the show, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, with MTV Entertainment Studios.

South Park remains in the cultural zeitgeist as they released the "South ParQ Vaccination Special" which reached almost 3.5 million viewers on the night of its cable television release making it the number one telecast this year alone. In 2020, they also hold the same spot with "The Pandemic Special," even securing themselves an Emmy nomination for the Outstanding Animated Program category.

The show is about to reach the age of 24 this year on August 13 and what better way to celebrate the anniversary of the series than great news about its extension and more films to come! South Park is easily one of those tenured shows that never gets old.

The CEO and President of MTV Entertainment and COO of Adult Animation on Paramount Chris McCarthy had nothing but praise for Parker and Stone, he said in the statement, "Matt and Trey are world-class creatives who brilliantly use their outrageous humor to skewer the absurdities of our culture and we are excited to expand and deepen our long relationship with them to help fuel Paramount+ and Comedy Central."

Parker and Stone also shared their excitement on what the future holds for South Park, "Comedy Central has been our home for 25 years and we're really happy that they've made a commitment to us for the next 75 years." They added, "We can't wait to get back to doing traditional South Park episodes but now we can also try out new formats. It's great to have partners who will always take a chance with us."

Congratulations, South Park!
