Sorry, But Mark Hamill Is Skipping Out On The 2019 Star Wars Celebration

Lucasfilm may not have confirmed the appearance of Star Wars: Episode IX's stars for the film's panel at this year's Star Wars Celebration this weekend, however, fans were hoping that Daisy Ridley (Rey), John Boyega (Finn), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), and Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) would pop up at the event along with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams.

Unfortunately, it seems like Hamill is skipping out on the 2019 Star Wars Celebration. Taking to Twitter today, Hamill announced that he wouldn't be making the trip to Chicago for Star Wars Celebration even though he wishes that he could be there with the Star Wars fanbase.

"Wish I could be with you in Chicago- having fun & hanging out with folks who seem like family. I'm deeply disappointed I can't be a part of @SW_Celebration. I know everyone there will have a wonderful time making friends & memories that will last a lunchtime," Hamill wrote on his post.

This is definitely disappointing news for fans. Hamill was a huge presence during Star Wars Celebration Orlando back in 2017, joining the 40th anniversary panel, the Star Wars: The Last Jedi panel, and a tribute to the late Star Wars legend, Carrie Fisher.

According to Hamill, he's skipping out on this year's Star Wars Celebration because he's working all week. He's also scheduled a business trip for New York City on Sunday and then later on appearing on an episode of Live with Kelly & Ryan/ Seth Myers on Tuesday, April 16.

Guess we'll just have to celebrate Star Wars without Luke this year (unless Hamill is pulling a prank and coming to the event disguised as a Skywalker).

Star Wars: Episode IX's panel at Star Wars Celebration Chicago is on Friday, April 12 at 11 am CT.
