X-Men star Sophie Turner recently opened up about not returning as Jean Grey in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The hit MCU film notably brought back several of the actors from the past Marvel movies including Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Jennifer Garner's Elektra. A lot of fans were happy to see them reprise their iconic roles.
However, most of the stars from the Fox X-Men movies were absent including Turner although fans remain hopeful that they will be invited for a multiversal crossover in Avengers: Secret Wars.
Sophie Turner Explains Deadpool & Wolverine Absence
In a recent interview, Turner was asked whether she was in talks to reprise the role of Jean Grey in Deadpool & Wolverine.
She explained that she was never considered to appear in the film, but she signed a contract to appear in the tribute reel at the end credits.
"No, I mean, I think, I think there’s, like, some sort of thing at the end where they used a clip from X-Men. I remember signing some sort of contract," the actress said.
"But no, that part of my life I think is well and truly over. I mean, maybe not — I love doing superhero-y action stuff, but I think the Jean Grey storyline for me is probably. It’s had its time."
Despite whatever rumors might have suggested before the film's release, Turner was never in contention as one of the major cameos that Marvel was trying to bring back for the swan song to the Fox franchise.
Fans could still hope for some potential appearance from any of the Fox X-Men cast in the future since Avengers: Secret Wars is in the works and it is the avenue for them to bring them back in a significant way.
Who knows, maybe Turner is on the list of the former Marvel actors that they might be eyeing to return. If she does reprise her iconic role, fans would be happy to see it happen given how her portrayal of Jean Grey was praised.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be available on digital VOD platforms this October 1.
