Sony and Disney's Marvel partnership has always been a tricky affair and for a time, it seemed like the production company was ready to take Spider-Man away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe until an extension deal was finalized in 2019. Despite Tom Holland seemingly being an exclusive part of the MCU, it seems like Sony still has plans of incorporating his version of Spidey into their growing universe.
Now, the Spider-Verse's expansion is in full swing and it has just been confirmed that Sony will finally be going the streaming route. Intriguingly, Disney isn't in any shape or form involved in their next step.
According to a scoop from The Hollywood Reporter, Sony and streaming giant Amazon will be collaborating on a number of Spider-Man spinoff projects, starting with Silk: Spider Society, the first of a “suite of live-action television series based on the Sony Pictures universe of Marvel characters, which includes over 900 characters".
As it stands, key details about the project remain under wraps but it's worth noting that Cindy Moon already exists in live-action, played by actress Tiffany Espensen. Of course, Sony can always take a different route and recast her but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

No word yet on which characters will follow suit but it would be safe to assume that Tom Holland's Spider-Man could also potentially get his own standalone series or at least make appearances on the shows the production company is cooking up. It'll be interesting to see how this affects Sony's partnership with Disney given how both of them share the rights to the character.
Speaking of the web-slinger, a fourth MCU Spider-Man film is currently in development.
