Sony Working On Another Spider-Man Spinoff: Morbius The Living Vampire

After Sony and Marvel made history by deciding to share Spider-Man with the MCU, Sony has decided to move forward with Spider-Man spinoffs that are set outside of the cinematic universe. Venom is currently in production with Silver & Black on the way, and now they have a third movie in the lineup—Morbius: The Living Vampire.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a script has just been passed to the studio by Power Rangers writers Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. When asked if this story will have any connections to Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Sony refused to comment.

In the comics, Dr. Michael Morbius had a rare blood disease that he attempted to cure—resulting in him turning into a sort-of vampire, complete with fangs and a thirst for blood. He's had several run-ins with Spider-Man and has been a heroic figure from time to time.

Seeing that the time for the vampire genre has come and gone with the Twilight franchise, I don't know just how well this movie will be received once it's announced. Not to mention you're getting a script from the guys who wrote Gods of Egypt and the new Power Rangers—both critical bombs.

We don't have that much details on the spinoff yet, but hopefully Sony is planning a proper announcement.
