Sony Allegedly Wants Venom to Crossover to the MCU

While we don't know what exactly the details are between Sony and Marvel's Spider-Man deal, we do know that Spider-Man is the only character that can crossover to other film with other faces like Venom and Morbius set to stay in the "SUMC". What's interesting though, is that word has it that Sony wants more characters to crossover to the MCU moving forward.

According to insider Daniel Richtman (via The Direct), Sony is said to want more crossovers with the MCU in order to boost their own cinematic universe; meaning that they want characters like Venom and other symbiotes to appear in other films. It was even said that they wanted to let Captain America help set-up the Sinister Six, way before Chris Evans left the role; but we don't know what their stance on that is now.

While I'm all up for a more connected MCU, I think Sony really has to step up their game when it comes to their films. I mean, Venom did make a lot of money, but the film was a critical bomb; I wasn't surprised when word had it that Disney asked the MCU connections to be removed from that film. If Sony wants more crossovers, they better step up the quality when it comes to the creatives.

Personally, they should just toss the spinoffs and focus on a "Spider-Verse" with different versions of Spider-Man. There are just so many other characters to choose from like Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen. Heck, I'd watch a Spider-Ham movie before I'd check out Kraven the Hunter.

Then again, that's just my opinion. We don't really know what Sony is up to now, but hopefully, they manage to do their best with the Spider-Man IP moving forward. Catch Morbius when it hits theaters March 18, 2021.
