Song Hye Kyo’s Kdrama The Glory Ranks 3rd on Netflix’s Non-English TV Shows

Song Hye Kyo’s new Kdrama on Netflix, titled The Glory, continued to gain popularity on the streaming platform.

Netflix formally released the first part of The Glory on Dec. 30. Created by writer Kim Eun Sook and director Ahn Gil Ho. The drama tells the story of a former school violence victim who wanted to become an architect but ended up dropping out of high school because of her bullies. She starts seeking revenge and studies to become a teacher.

She eventually starts her work as a homeroom adviser to one of the school bullies’ child, and her revenge begins from there.

Song Hye Kyo and Lee Do Hyun star in the Kdrama series alongside Lim Ji Yeon, Shin Ye Eun, Yeom Hye Ran, Park Sung Hoon, Song Byeong Geun, Jung Sung Il, Cha Joo Young, Kim Hi-Eora, Bae Kang Hee, Kim Gun Woo, and Seo Woo Hyuk.

The Glory Secures 3rd Spot on Netflix

The Korea Times reported that, as of Wednesday, Song Hye Kyo’s drama series already reached the No. 3 spot on the streaming giant’s weekly viewership chart for non-English TV shows.

The Glory ultimately became the third most-watched show on Netflix’s Top 10 list for the week of Dec. 26 to Jan. 1. It recorded a total of 25.41 million viewing hours.

Netflix has only released its first eight episodes so far. It will drop the second half in March.

The Glory Kdrama Debuted on Netflix at No. 5

Before the recent milestone, The Glory already dominated the list as it immediately debuted at No. 5 on Netflix’s worldwide TV series ranking two days after its release.

According to FlixPatrol, Song Hye Kyo’s Kdrama set the record on Jan. 1. It appeared on the top spot on Netflix TV series ranking in 10 countries, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Qatar, Singapore, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and Thailand.

It also ranked second in Hong Kong, Oman, Maldives, and Japan, and No. 4 in Sri Lanka, Kuwait, and Bangladesh.
