Solo Writer Admits He Tried to Reference the Star Wars Holiday Special More

Though Disney may have removed years of the Star Wars expanded universe from the canon, little elements are slowly making their way back into the franchise piece by piece. Just in, Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jon Kasdan admits that he tried (and failed) to put more Star Wars Holiday Special references in Solo.

He comments on this photo of the script which features a deleted scene between Chewbacca and Han Solo:

Just in case you're curious on what the Holiday Special reference was, it's the revelation that Chewbacca's father is named Attichitcuk (or Itchy for short). We never really got the reveal in the movie itself, but at least we know that the script brought something from the special into canon.

For now, there's a big movement to #MakeSolo2Happen online, and fans have already gotten the attention of director Ron Howard and even Kasdan himself. Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo is also known to post about making a sequel happen from time to time.

Though we haven't got confirmation yet, hopefully Lucasfilm is aware that people want to see a Solo sequel. We don't know if we're ever going to get a movie again, but everyone is willing to settle for a live-action series on Disney+.

For now, you can wait for The Mandalorian which premieres on Disney+ when it launches Nov. 12. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to hit theaters later this year on Dec. 20.
