Solo: A Star Wars Story Screen Writer Wants To See A Lando Calrissian Spinoff

It looks like Solo: A Star Wars Story's co-writer Jonathan Kasdan is hoping that Lando Calrissian gets his very own spinoff movie from Lucasfilm.

Though Solo puts a spotlight on everyone's favorite smuggler, there's been a lot of appreciation over Glover's version of Lando Calrissian, with some fans saying that the suave gambler looks a lot more interesting then Alden Ehrenreich's version of Han.

Now, as Solo: A Star Wars Story waits for its premiere, screenwriters Jonathan and Lawrence Kasdan speak with Screen Rant about their future in Lucasfilm. Though legendary screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan feels like he's already at his last Star Wars film, his son Jonathan feels like he has more to offer Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away.

One of the films that Jonathan wants to work on is a spinoff for Lando. Here's what the screenwriter tells the publication during the interview:

"First of all I'm dying to see a Lando film. I would help in any way I was asked to. I think that's a great movie. I mean, I think you know one of the things though that's interesting is, I want to see a Lando film very similar way to the way I think Larry was excited by a Han film. Which is in this movie, Lando gets to occupy, the role that Han occupied in the earlier films, which is he doesn't have to carry the burden of being the protagonist. He gets to have all the jokes. He gets to be the foil, you know. So one of the tricky challenges of making a Lando movie is, suddenly Lando is at the center of it. He, somebody else is going to step into that role of being the, maybe even Han, you know. So it's a fun universe to play around and then think about what we can do with it."

Jonathan certainly seems to have a lot of passion for a Lando movie. The screenwriter isn't the only one as well. A lot of Star Wars fans fell in love with the smooth and suave gambler ever since he debuted in the original trilogy's Empire Strikes Back, and we're pretty sure that fans would love to see a spinoff for Lando. Though Solo might be the center of attention right now, there's a possibility that Lucasfilm might think of working on a spinoff for Lando someday in the future.
