Solo: A Star Wars Story Concept Art has Maul with HAIR

Solo: A Star Wars Story saw the triumphant return of Darth Maul to the big screen, but little did we know that he could have looked very different in the film. Concept artist Jake Lunt Davies shares this alternate look for Maul with hair that was inspired by a design from Episode I.

Check him out:

Though I think this would have made the character look cool, Maul's appearances in the canon have constantly shown without hair—however, it's proven that his horns do grow over time. Besides, I think the audiences would recognize him more with his classic look. I can only imagine the wave of speculation articles coming out if they used this look and didn't outright say Maul's name in the film.

Maul's appearance was supposed to set us up for a sequel, but after the underperformance of Solo, it looks like Lucasfilm had put all those plans on hold. Some fans online have been campaigning for a sequel with #MakeSolo2Happen, but for now, I think Lucasfilm is just trying to get its bearings after the stumble with Solo.

If a movie doesn't end up happening, I hope that Disney considers bringing the characters back for their streaming service. I thought the cast was just great, and I would love to see the likes of Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, and Donald Glover return.

Worst case scenario, Han and Qi'ra's story is concluded with a comic. At least we'll get some closure.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is now available on digital and Blu-Ray.
