Since his departure from Justice League's production, Zack Snyder has slowly been revealing bits and pieces of his now famed cut of the film and has now provided fans with an old outtake with Darkseid. The image was posted on Vero and features Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman, in the middle of an ADR session across a screen with an early rendering of Darkseid.
On its caption, the director wrote, "That time in January 2017 when Diana came face to face with Uxas for the first time," in reference to the comic book villain's original name.
In Joss Whedon's final cut of the film, a flashback sequence is shown with Steppenwolf and his army invading Earth. This is seen through a narration by Diana who is trying to explain the villain to Bruce Wayne.
Snyder had been initially very excited for Darkseid's debut into the DCEU prior to the film's release but had to hand on the reins to director Joss Whedon following a family tragedy which had to make him exit production. Whedon, of course, brought multiple changes with him.
This coupled with calls from the film's very own cast to release Snyder's cut has been fueling the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement. The most vocal among the cast are Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, who claims to have even seen the cut himself, and Ray Porter, who played Darkseid in unreleased footage. Other production members such as the film's composer Danny Elfman, however, has come forward with new details about the unseen cut and why it may never see the light of day.
DC Films' latest upcoming film is Birds of Prey which is set to be released February 5 next year.
