Girls’ Generation YoonA is gaining attention for her healthier visuals after gaining weight.
During the online press conference for her upcoming movie Confidential Assignment 2, the singer-actress revealed that she intentionally added a few pounds.
Why Did Girls’ Generation’s YoonA Purposely Gain Weight?
The 32-year-old beauty addressed rumors that she gained 10kg.
In the virtual interview, Girls’ Generation’s YoonA clarified that it was not 10 KG; however, she shared that she did gain a few pounds for an upcoming project.
"I have no idea where that rumor came from. I did gain weight for my next project, but it's not 10kg,” she said, as obtained by AllKpop.
However, she revealed that it was for her new K-drama King the Land.
“I wanted to switch up the image that I had, so I tried gaining weight,” the singer-actress said, adding, “I tried to work out regularly and tried harder to eat more. I'm not sure if it's the eating late-night snacks due to filming at night but I did succeed in gaining weight."
While her thriller crime series Big Mouth with Lee Jong Suk is gaining much attention ahead of its finale season, Girls’ Generation YoonA is casted as one of the lead stars in the JTBC K-drama.
King the Land Cast, Release Date, and What We Know So Far
One of Girls’ Generation YoonA’s upcoming projects is the rom-com series King The Land.
The 32-year-old star will be working along with 2PM’s Junho as the main characters.
According to Soompi, the duo was confirmed to headline the forthcoming JTBC series in April 2022 with the story penned by All of Us Are Dead screenwriter Cheon Sung Il.
Produced by npio Entertainment, the company behind The Red Sleeve Cuff, Forecasting Love and Weather, and A Time Called You along with BY4M as co-producer.
The Girls’ Generation member will be playing Cheon Sa Rang, who is a ball of sunshine and an employee of King Hotel.
Interestingly, the establishment has a significant part in her childhood where she had the happiest memories.
As for 2PM’s Junho, he took the role of Goo Won, who gets caught up in an inheritance battle for King Hotel.
In the same report, King The Land is scheduled to begin their production in fall and set to air sometime in 2023.
While viewers wait for her team-up with the 2PM member, YoonA reprised her role as Park Min Young in Confidential Assignment 2.

YoonA Returns in Confidential Assignment 2
Probably one of the much-awaited sequels this 2022, Girls’ Generation YoonA returns to the big screen for the action-packed film’s second installment.
She was reunited with co-stars Hyun Bin and Yoo Hae Jin as they reprise their roles as North Korean detective Rim Chul Ryung and South Korean detective Kang Jin Tae.
As for YoonA, she plays Park Min Young, the sister-in-law of Kang Jin Tae (Yoo Hae Jin,) whose love interest is Rim Chul Ryung (Hyun Bin.)
As the duo sets out on a new mission, they will have a new member from the US, FBI detective Jack played by Daniel Henney.
Confidential Assignment 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on September 7.
