Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 5 Ending Explained

Snowpiercer Season 3 Episode 5 is titled A New Life and from that itself, it tells the story of the birth of Layton and Zarah’s child, however, things wouldn’t go as smoothly as planned because, hey, this is Snowpiercer, a day without chaos out of the question.

With everyone celebrating a new life coming in as this is the first time there would be birth for years, all the passengers are excited and the night car was turned into some baby shower with a name tree in the middle of it, having suggestions of what the name would the baby be. Zarah’s water broke and they headed into delivery with Mrs. Headwood and Dr. Pelton.

The same night, the name tree was burned down and another fire happened which almost got to Layton, injuring him. Still, he got there in time for the birth of his child and Zarah pushed through. They welcomed baby Liana and Ruth broke the great news to the passengers of Snowpiercer.

Meanwhile, the others are facing different problems as well, Josie found out that she can’t feel pain anymore, Ben was there to comfort her and they found solace in each other leading to an intimate scene. Javi still suffers from some kind of post-traumatic stress he got from the time he was with Wilford and Sykes was there to share her experience with him.

On the other hand, Wilford is now awake and Audrey remains barred from the rest of the train that she got up to the guitar and sang a song. Pike seems to have his conscience running through him that he destroyed what looks like a detonator and walked away.

The episode was full of emotions from the different characters. A new life means new hope and may it be a hard world they’re living in, there is a silver lining waiting for them. Redemption is also key in the story. Pike may seem to be the main perpetrator of the fires but in the end, he realized the wrong he has done and it showed in the last minutes of the episode how his conscience caught up on him.

This episode also sets the upcoming run of the show as the synopsis showed that they found out who started the fire. Was it really Pike? He was there, seen at the scene of the second explosion, but what could be his main reason? If he wanted Layton dead, he could do it in a different way but why make a scene about it, right?
