It's safe to say that Season 2 will pick up where the first season left off: After a successful revolution in Season 1, which saw Andre Layton (played by Daveed Diggs) and the Tailies infiltrate the front of the Snowpiercer, Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) transfers control of the train to Layton, who hopes to start a democratic way of governing the remaining passengers.

Showrunner Graeme Manson told The Hollywood Reporter how this new setup will impact Layton and Melanie in the new season.

Mr. Wilford (played by Sean Bean) is the reclusive billionaire and genius inventor who used his company, Wildford Industries, to build Snowpiercer and its global railway to save a small population of humanity from the Freeze. Many in the train believe him to be a near-mythical Great Engineer of Snowpiercer. Melanie assumed his identity and position in charge of the train, and Wilford was believed dead after Melanie abandoned him to die at boarding but it turns out that he is alive aboard the Big Alice supply train.

We also find out that there are other survivors, including Melanie's presumably dead daughter, Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), who forces the Snowpiercer to surrender to Mr. Wilford. Season 2 will most likely show how the arrival of Big Alice and other survivors will impact Snowpiercer. We can also expect the show to tackle Melanie and Alexandra's relationship.
