Snoke Wasn’t Behind Rey and Ren’s Force Connection

Snoke might have said that he was behind the Force connection that helped Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) understand each other better in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it seems like the two were connected even before the start of Sequel Trilogy.

The fourth issue of Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren (via Cheat Sheet) tries to chronicle the moment when the wayward son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (Carrie Fisher) finally turns to the Dark Side to become Kylo Ren, and in the comic, fans get to see Rey's connection to Ren.

The comic book written by Charles Soule has Ben transforming into Kylo Ren when he has to slay the original Ren. In The Rise of Kylo Ren #4, two Jedi try to convince Ben to turn back to the light when they are attacked by the leader of the Knights of Ren, Ren. Ben, trying to protect the Jedi, slays Ren, channelling Force Lightning as he does so. Ben Solo's first kill cements his turn to the Dark Side, something that Rey senses on Jakku. The orphan might not know that she's Force-sensitive back then, but the moment Ben fully transforms, she tells Unkar Plutt that she feels cold. This moment shows the Force Dyad in action because aside from his mother, Leia, Snoke and Palpatine are the only ones who can sense Ben's final turn to the Dark Side.

If it isn't a sign that Ben and Rey's destinies were intertwined then we don't know what is.
