Snake Eyes Movie Gets Writer Larry Hama's Stamp of Approval

There is little doubt that a movie about Snake Eyes would have to focus on Storm Shadow as well. After all, the two have been connected right from the start and their relationship is the one thing that fans have always kept coming back to.

So will Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins be able to bring the complicated bond between the two characters to life? Amazingly, comic book writer Larry Hama approves of the adaptation and how it portrays Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

Paramount Pictures has released a new featurette titled The Secrets Behind G.I. Joe's Greatest Duo and it puts the focus on Henry Golding and Andrew Koji, who will play Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, respectively. The featurette also shows Hama on the set of the film which he had given his stamp of approval.

"I came up with the backstory of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow being comrades," Hama stated before adding that the characters are "the brother loyalty story" that fans have embraced.

Not surprisingly, Golding is delighted that Hama is involved in the project. "Larry gave us creative license to be able to tell a story beyond the comics and launch this brand new universe for G.I. Joe," he said.

It's great to see that Hama was present to make sure that the film stays true to the comics. Needless to say, we can't wait to see Snake Eyes next month.

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is directed by Robert Schwentke and will also star Úrsula Corberó as Baroness, Samara Weaving as Scarlett, Haruka Abe as Akiko, Tahehiro Hira as Kenta and Iko Uwais as Hard Master.

Snake Eyes: G. I. Joe Origins will premiere on July 23, 2021.
