Six Dungeons and Dragons Games are Coming to Consoles This Year

Dungeons and Dragons has always been popular but it seems to have gone through a bit of a resurgence in recent years, likely due to the number of Twitch streams dedicated to the RPG, such as Critical Role. Before streaming became the in-thing, there were a lot of cool DnD video games that came out on PC and occasionally a console or two, such as the hack-and-slash Baldur's Gate games.

Well, Skybound is teaming up with Beamdog to bring six of these popular DnD games to consoles later this year. In a blog post, Skybound announced a new publishing partnership with Beamdog and confirmed that the following games would be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2019: Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gatell, Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and Neverwinter Nights.

Even if you've never heard of DnD, which is impossible, there is no doubt that you've heard of one or two of these games. All of them have gained critical acclaim from PC gamers over the years, with Neverwinter Nights even getting a spin-off MMORPG recently. Games like Divinity: Original Sin have continued the tradition of making these types of games great again, so those that loved that title should check out these original titles.

No specific release dates for these games have been given but expect something to come out of PAX East this March, since some of these titles will have playable demos in the event. Let's hope that a release date isn't far off.

Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gatell, Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and Neverwinter Nights are all currently available on PC.
