Good Burger 2: Sinbad's Cameo May or May Not Have Been the Real Deal

Good Burger 2 just brought back the 1997's cult comedy duo, Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell, but one thing fans couldn't afford to miss was stand-up comedian Sinbad aka David Adkins' potential cameo. So, did Sinbad return in Good Burger 2?

Sinbad appeared in the first Good Burger movie as Mr. Wheat, a high school teacher whose car got hit by the Dex and Ed.

It was thanks to this encounter that the comedy duo got a summer job to pay for the repairs of his car, which led them to start working for Good Burger in the first place.

And given Good Burger 2 is pretty much a reunion flick, fans of the cult classic expected Sinbad to reprise his role in some capacity. While it was unclear for a time whether Sinbad was going to appear in the sequel, many were hopeful for his return.

So, Did Sinbad Make a Cameo in Good Burger 2?

It's a bit complicated, but yes, Sinbad technically made a cameo appearance in the Good Burger sequel. Not in the way you think, though.

If you already watched Good Burger 2, Sinbad 'returned' but only in a voice role. As it turns out, he was the man on the other end of the telephone telling Dex that he was out of business.

It is worth mentioning that Sinbad was initially supposed to land a bigger role in the sequel, however, Good Burger screenwriter Kevin Kopelow told SlashFilm:

"When [Kel] backed into the car [early in the movie], he was going to pull away and Sinbad was going to be the driver."

Unfortunately, it was due to scheduling conflicts that led to Sinbad's absence. Luckily, the Good Burger 2 team thought about just making sure he could 'participate in some way.'

It may have been a small role, but it still left fans on a heartfelt note on his subtle return.

The official synopsis for Good Burger 2 reads:

In GOOD BURGER 2, Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed welcomes Dex back to Good Burger with open arms and gives him his old job back. With a new crew working at Good Burger, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet but unfortunately puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again.
