Simu Liu Shares Exciting What If...? Pitch For Shang-Chi Episode

It seems like every Marvel Cinematic Universe character has been featured in What If...? so far. However, Shang-Chi has yet to appear in the animated series which explores strange new possibilities in the MCU. But what would Shang-Chi's episode be like if he does appear on the show in the future? Simu Liu has an exciting idea of what could happen in his character's possible episode.

Liu is the newest MCU superstar having just made his debut in Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. As a recent addition, his character has not yet been featured in What If...? and might not do so in the show's first season.

That hasn't stopped Liu from thinking about the possibilities for his character's own What If...? episode. The Kim's Convenience star was recently a guest of the Phase Zeropodcast where he admitted that he wants Shang-Chi to be featured in the MCU animated series.

"What If...? I think What If...?. I mean, that's the one place to go to be free of any sort of expectation, any sort of audience preconceived notions," Liu said. He then pointed out that he loves the fact that anything can happen on the MCU series.

"I think you go to What If...? and literally anything is possible, like a multiverse where Shang runs a Marvel blog and you just follow him as he sleuths around in and around the offices and tries to get the inside scoop on all the heroes. It'll be like Gossip Girl, but it'll be Shang. You know what I mean?" Liu said.

This actually sounds interesting and somehow fitting considering Shang-Chi is the newest hero in the MCU and was welcomed by two Avengers. Perhaps Marvel should consider Liu's idea and go with it in What If...? Season 2.

A new episode of Marvel's What If...? will air on Wednesday on the streaming service Disney+. Liu appears on Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings, which is now screening in theaters.
