There have been numerous rumors plaguing one of DreamWorks' most famous film franchises, Shrek. The four installment movie series has met worldwide acclaimed for being one of the most original animated films up to date.
Shrek fans have been wondering whether there will be a fifth movie made, and although the updates are slow, there has been a lot of talk regarding Shrek 5's continuing production and future release.

Illumination's Chris Meledandri revealed back in 2018 that he wants Shrek (Mike Myers), Fiona (Cameron Diaz), Donkey (Eddie Murphy), and Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas) to play their parts once more for Shrek 5. There has been no update since then but, in a past interview with Eddie Murphy, he did mention that the fifth film will be released in the year 2022.
