Shin Dong Yup received devastating news about his father’s sudden death.
As an in-demand comedian, Shin Dong Yup had been scheduled to appear in several shows and programs. One of which was his supposed attendance on the June 1 recording of My Little Boy.
However, he had to cancel all his activities following his father’s death.

Shin Dong Yup's Father Dead
On Tuesday, Shin Dong Yup's agency SM & CC released a statement confirming the death of the comedian’s father.
The patriarch, 88, was in a nursing home at the time of his death. As of press time, his wake is being held in Seoul.

The family decided to hold his funeral quietly along with close friends and other family members.
“We ask for your consideration so that the family can mourn the deceased. We offer our condolences to our artist Shin Dong Yup and his family. May [his father] rest in peace,” it went on.
Because of the event, Shin Dong Yup's pre-cording in My Ugly Duckling and My Little Boy have been canceled. SM C&C is currently working on his schedule, but the changes have not been publicized yet.
Shin Dong Yup's Father Cause of Death
The comedian’s agency did not disclose the father’s cause of death. But Shin Dong Yup previously revealed that his father was once diagnosed with cancer and underwent surgery at a hospital.
He revealed during an episode of With God in April 2021 that his father was still recovering from the dreaded illness. He also disclosed that he had not been able to visit him at the hospital in the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In February, as reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, he got emotional in an episode of Immortal Songs after listening to a song about fatherhood.
"I talked to my father before coming here today. Listening to this song made me think about him and my mother who passed away as well,” he went on.
