It looks like Captain Marvel is here for the long run and we aren't just talking about the first film. The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Brie Larson has signed a seven-year deal with the company, two of those films being Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame. Considering how she mentioned being hesitant to star in one Marvel movie, staying for several is quite the change.
The cynics are probably saying that Marvel must be paying her a lot to stay this long and, to be honest, they aren't wrong. Larson will be making a sweet $5 million for her first Marvel movie, which is more than what Chadwick Boseman and Robert Downey Jr. made for their premiere MCU movies. Still, this is great news and shows that Marvel is serious about having Larson in the MCU.
Knowing that we'll be getting five more movies with the cosmic captain is interesting, to say the least. Not all of those movies are going to be Captain Marvel-led ones since these deals also include team movies like Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, so that should be fun. Many of us are expecting Larson's Carol Danvers to take the place of either Captain America or Iron Man, maybe both, but we'll have to wait and see.
Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
Captain Marvel comes out on March 8.
