She-Hulk Finale Almost Featured an Edward Norton Appearance

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law featured a lot of easter eggs from the MCU and Marvel Comics as well as references to the real-life state of the franchise (as evidenced by the finale's huge breaking-the-fourth-wall moment). However, as it turns out, they almost featured what could have been its most jaw-dropping meta easter egg yet by bringing back an actor from the MCU's past.

In a recent interview with The Direct, director Kat Coiro revealed that they considered bringing back the original Hulk actor Edward Norton in the final episode during the scene where Hulk and the Abomination had a mini-reunion. However, as we all know, they didn't go with that plan.

"There was a lot of talk about the fact that the last time they were together a different actor was playing the Hulk. And Mark [Ruffalo] made quite a few jokes about that. And we did entertain the idea of swapping Mark out for Edward Norton. But that did not come to pass," she said.

It would have been a wild moment if the show was able to bring back Norton, who last appeared in The Incredible Hulk, for a quick easter egg cameo that would have broken the internet if it actually happened and arguably the show's biggest meta easter egg considering the history behind the character.

However, that might also be way too far if they proceeded with that plan, especially with how wild they already went with She-Hulk's breaking-the-fourth-wall moment at the Marvel Studios office and the actor's appearance could have also been a distraction as well.

You also have to add the fact that the circumstances regarding Norton's exit from the role were not pleasant and it would have also been surprising if they managed to have the actor agree to appear. At the end of the day, the finale was still able to work with what they had and it still served several easter eggs that made a lot of fans delighted.
