She-Hulk Comic Writer Slams Criticisms Against MCU Show

The recent MCU series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was met with criticisms from some fans due to various reasons whether it's the humor, writing, its unusual tone from the rest of the MCU, or its visual effects due to the uncanny valley on Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk form.

One of the criticisms that the series also received is the claim from some fans that it is not loyal to the comic book source material even though some of the character's runs in the comics were tapping into the humor and breaking-the-fourth-wall territory just like how the series portrayed.

Recently, Dan Slott, who wrote some of the beloved She-Hulk comic book runs, addressed the criticisms on Twitter where he slammed the claims that the series is not comic book accurate. He reminded the public that he is behind some of the character's comic book runs and declared the series is the "most comic book accurate show in the MCU."

"Anyone saying the @SheHulkOfficial TV show wasn't 'comic book accurate'... I'm the guy who has written more issues of SHE-HULK than anyone. I've read every single comic from every #SheHulk run. And I'm saying, for the record, it is the MOST comic book accurate show in the MCU," he wrote.

He also clarified that he is fine if the show didn't work for some people, but he also iterated that it doesn't mean that the show is bad and each person will have their own enjoyment of the series.

"Way too many people online don't understand the difference between:
'This was bad.' & 'This was a bad fit for me,'" he continued. "Not everything needs to be for you. There are TONS of things for you. And things that are JUST for you. It's ok for SOME things to be for people who aren't you."

Slott's tweets are certainly a great reminder for fans about the importance of the subjectivity of a piece of art and how each person will have their own experience and opinion about what they've seen.

With all the fan discourse that we're seeing and happening online, this is a friendly reminder to respect each other's takes and remember that other people may have different opinions than yours.
