Shazam! Will Open with a Scene in the 70s

A lot of fans are eager to watch the DCEU move forward, and after the release of Aquaman, we're going to be meeting an all-new hero with Shazam!. As it turns out, the movie will actually open with a flashback, and it will put the focus on young Thaddeus Sivana.

According to Collider:

The story begins in the 1970s with the Sivana family and being introduced to a young Thaddeus Sivana. Without revealing too much, what happens to him as a young boy has a profound influence on the rest of his life and absolutely shapes his future path.

Eagle-eyed fans will remember that the latest teaser had a shot of young Sivana walking into the chamber of the Wizard, and the shot also gives us a good look at the Seven Deadly Sins. We don't really know what happens to Sivana in that cave, but it's said that the movie will have him mostly wanting the powers of Shazam for himself.

I guess a set-up for the villain works for most of the time. If we start with the hero, I can't imagine where the villain's origin will be put into the movie. You find this kind of intro with several superheroes flicks like Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The First Avenger, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Though I thought Aquaman needed some improvement storywise, I'm pretty much looking forward to the release of Shazam!. Catch the movie in theaters on April 5.
