Shazam Star Zachary Levi Expresses Confidence in DCU Future Amid Recast Reports

It's been a crazy couple of months for the DC Universe after James Gunn and Peter Safran officially assumed their position as co-heads of the revamped DC Studios. When the news surrounding the pairing's collaboration first surfaced, fans felt a jolt of excitement, especially since Gunn has always proven that he's a guy that puts the fans first before anything else.

However, the enthusiasm quickly waned when it was confirmed that a slew of upcoming DC film projects will no longer be happening, including Wonder Woman 3 and Man of Steel 2. This week, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson also shockingly hinted that his days as Black Adam are over with the anti-hero getting excluded from "Chapter One" of the new DCU.

Zachary Levi is also among the rumored list of actors who will get axed by DC Studios as they restructure the franchise. The Shazam! actor has already denied reports that he's getting booted out and in a new Instagram post, the star of the upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods has reasserted his confidence in his future under the Gunn and Safran regime.

During his live session on Instagram, Levi said: "At this point right now, I'm still that character. I have not had any outgoing conversations with the bosses. We have a movie that's literally coming out in March. I have no idea what's going to ultimately happen to me. I think I'm in a pretty good position..."

I gotta say, Zachary potentially getting removed from the new DCU will bum me out because I believe the first Shazam! film, although not a commercial hit was one of the better films the old DC Films regime put out.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is slated for theatrical release on March 17, 2023.
