Shazam Director Throws Shade at Captain Marvel

Hardcore comic book fans have been having fun with the fact that there are technically two Captain Marvel movies coming out on 2019; the Marvel version and the DC iteration. The character is now called Shazam on DC due to a copyright claim that's too long to mention, though it did result in all of the character's comics being called Shazam from here on out.

David F. Sandberg, the director of Shazam, recently shared a poll that showed how fans are more excited for the DC film than Marvel's Captain Marvel on Instagram. He also put the hashtag #TheOriginalCaptainMarvel, which shows that Sandberg knows how to throw shade in the same way that Shazam throws thunderbolts; with frightening and painful accuracy.

Granted, the second trailer of Captain Marvel got more fans excited but the fact that many are already putting Shazam in a pedestal after one trailer shows just how good it was. It has a lot of qualities that recent DC movies haven't been able to show and the fact that it looks genuinely good and funny makes it apparent that DC are learning from their mistakes.

In fairness, something doesn't need humor and color to be good; it just needs to be good. Sadly, Batman V Superman and Justice League just weren't good, despite the fact that the former has a ton of fans that try to defend it. Hopefully, Shazam and this month's Aquaman makes things right.

Shazam comes out on April 5, 2019.
