Shazam! Director Signals The Film’s Start Of Production

Shazam! director David F. Sandberg has finally signaled the official start of production for his upcoming DC Extended Universe installment after months of kooky photos of action figures and Coca-Cola bottles.

Heading to Instagram, the filmmaker decided to show off the start of production for the superhero film with one of the very first photos taken from the set of Shazam!

Check it out down here:

The image might not give away anything about the film's plot, but it does confirm that Warner Bros. has begun principal photography for the superhero film. Starring Zachary Levi as Shazam and Ashar Angel as the character's younger alter ego, Billy Batson, the film is slated to arrive in summer next year. Mark Strong from Green Lantern and SherlockHolmes has also been named to play Shazam's longtime enemy, the mad scientist Doctor Sivana.

There isn't that much information on how Sandberg will approach the origin of the superhero for the character's upcoming standalone film, however, the director did previously promise fans that his version wouldn't be a "huge dickhead" and everyone's hoping that it'll be much lighter compared to previous DCEU installments.

Hopefully, fans will get to learn more about Sandberg's plans for Shazam! now that production has begun.

Shazam! is set to premiere on April 5, 2019.
