Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has long been promising that the hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about to change and Black Adam's arrival seems to be a clear indication of where the franchise is headed to. Over the last couple of weeks, we've heard a lot of rumors surrounding the anti-hero's true role in the DCEU and according to a new report, the long-term plan is for him to clash with all the notable factions within the franchise.

According to insider Grace Randolph, Johnson is pitching a "Black Adam vs. Justice League vs. Suicide Squad" type of film which is probably the reason why Amanda Waller, Emilia Harcourt, and (allegedly) Superman will all be showing up in Black Adam.

As exciting as this new report is, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg doesn't look too pleased with the idea, especially how it seemingly excludes the Earth's Mightiest Mortal from the fold. Responding to the rumor on Twitter, the Fury of the Gods filmmaker wrote: "I have no idea if that’s true or not. But it would be pretty funny if Black Adam fights every DC character except Shazam."

To be perfectly honest, even I find it quite baffling that The Rock wants to go after Superman instead of setting up a fight with Billy Batson's superhero counterpart. While sure, the two DC titans aren't exactly strangers to one another, we all know for a fact that Black Adam's arch-rival is Shazam, and if anything, a showdown between them needs to happen first before anything else. Unless, of course, Johnson plans Shazam to be the endgame.

DC's Black Adam is hitting cinemas on October 21, 2022.
