Shazam 2 Star Zachary Levi Opens Up About [SPOILER]'s Surprise Cameo

In the midst of the incoming changes in the DCU franchise and the recent news that the third Wonder Woman film under Patty Jenkins was canceled, Gal Gadot made a surprise cameo appearance recently as Wonder Woman near the end of Shazam! Fury of the Gods in a pivotal scene.

While her appearance has been rumored for months and hinted already in the promo spots that were released, fans still got excited to see Gadot play the role again on-screen and it just shows that she is indeed one of the major players in the DCEU (at least in the current iteration).

However, it should also be pointed out that the decision to include her for a cameo appearance in the film was done during the previous regime of DC. Perhaps this was done during their original plans to build up the DCEU franchise even further before it was backtracked when Warner Bros. Discovery decided to do another reboot of the franchise.

In an interview with Extra TV, Zachary Levi, who plays Shazam, was asked about his thoughts regarding Gadot's surprise cameo appearance in the film where he praised the actress for agreeing to film a scene with them.

"Spoiler alert! I’ve loved how basically all the comic book characters guest star in each other’s comic books, and it connected the whole universe," he said. "The fact that Gal was down to do a little bit with us in the film and connect all that was really lovely."

It sounds like the Shazam actor was really happy that he was able to share a scene with another major DC hero even for just a quick moment and it became a legitimate sign that the film is indeed part of an overall shared universe. Who knows, maybe this will lead to them having more scenes together in the future.

Obviously, even with that exciting moment and potential set-up about what's next for the characters, their future in the franchise still remains unknown as DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran are pretty much starting the DCU franchise from scratch. For now, let's wait and see what will come next.
