Shazam! arrived in theaters last year which proved to be a hit amongst the fans. With a sequel set for release in April 2022, it's unclear whether they could start filming for the upcoming movie given the situation with the coronavirus pandemic. However, director David F. Sanberg is trying his best to be productive in the hopes to be on track.

"Well, we'll see how long this goes, because I mean, we were going to start shooting this year," Sandberg revealed to ComicBook.com "But, I mean, who knows how long this will go on?"

The director pointed out that almost every movie is getting delayed now so there's no telling what happens with the Shazam! sequel. Regardless, he is working on the script now and doing his best, along with the crew, to stay productive during the quarantine. "We can still do that, so that's being done and then," Sanberg added. "Yeah, we'll just see in a couple of months how it looks, you know?"

Although it isn't clear whether Shazam! 2 might end up getting pushed back, Sandberg says they have "a little bit of work" that they are doing remotely, along with meetings via video chat. "Yeah, it's not too weird for us. We're indoors a bit more," he said. "I'm sitting down and learning new software and doing little tests, things like that."

There's already a couple of highly-anticipated films pushed back along with a halt on production for TV shows and films. The situation months from now is unpredictable but here's to hoping that things will get better soon.

Shazam! 2 is set to arrive in theaters on April 1, 2022.
