It has already been confirmed that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are finally ready to begin production. However, we still have to learn anything about the mysterious character who will be played by Awkwafina. Luckily, the Crazy Rich Asians star has just shared some interesting details about the character she will portray in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.
Awkwafina recently spoke to Style Caster about her new project and not surprisingly, she was asked about the new character that she will play in Shang-Chi. Although the Jumanji: The Next Level star chose to play coy, she did tease how the character shares some of her traits.
"There's a little bit of me in every character I play, which is a good and bad thing," Awkwafina said. "I do feel like I can relate to her."
The actress continued by stating that the unnamed character ends up in a situation she isn't prepared for.
"I can't say much about the role, but I can say that she is thrust into a world where she doesn't really know what to do. At the same time, she's discovering things about herself," Awkwafina stated.
For now, it's unlikely that the cast and crew will reveal too much about this particular character. However, we're hoping to learn more about her in the next few months.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and will star Simu Liu as the titular Marvel comic book hero. The film is scheduled for release on July 9, 2021.
