Production on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are finally underway. Golden Globe winner Awkwafina has just confirmed that she has arrived in Australia to begin working on the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.
Awkwafina confirmed her arrival in her Instagram stories. In the brief video, the Crazy Rich Asians star is shown opening the curtains to her hotel room along with the caption, "Good morning Sydney!" Although the video is no longer available, it immediately had fans excited about Shang-Chi.
For now, it's still unclear who Awkwafina is playing in The Legend of the Ten Rings. Although her role is still undisclosed, we already know that the titular character will be portrayed by Simu Liu. In addition to that, screen legend Tony Leung has been cast as the Mandarin.

In addition to that, she became the first Asian-American actor to win the Best Actress award at the Golden Globes for her amazing performance in The Farewell. Needless to say, we can only look forward to great things in Shang-Chi.
Awkwafina's most recent film was Jumanji: The Next Level where she played Ming Fleetfoot, the new avatar used by Spencer. She will also lend her voice to the new animated film The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, which is scheduled for release on May 22.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will premiere on February 12, 2021.
