Daredevil Star Rosario Dawson Cast In HBO Max’s Pilot For DMZ

It looks like HBO Max has just cast Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Defenders alum Rosario Dawson in the upcoming adaptation of the Vertigo comic book, DMZ.

According to a report by Deadline, Rosario Dawson has just been added to the cast of HBO Max series DMZ. Dawson is currently set to play the role of Alma Ortego, a character that "goes on a harrowing journey of saving lives while desperately searching for her lost son. As she contends with the gangs, militias, demagogues, and warlords that control this lawless no man's land, she becomes the unlikely source of what everyone here has lost…hope."

To those unfamiliar with the comic book, DMZ is a series set in the near future where America experiences a second civil war, turning the island of Manhattan into a DMZ: a demilitarized zone. This puts the desolate island right between the forces of the United States of America and the secessionist Free States of America.

The comic book gained a lot of critical recognition from the media where critics would call the series compelling, brilliant, addictive, and brutal.

The pilot for the live-action adaptation of DMZ is going to be directed by Ava DuVernay, the director responsible for films like Middle of Nowhere, 13th, A Wrinkle in Time, and Selma. Robert Patino meanwhile serves as DMZ's showrunner and writer.

While we're excited to see the series air on HBO Max, there's still a lot of uncertainty over the project. HBO previously filmed a Game of Thrones spinoff pilot, and yet the network decided against airing the episode. Now, the only Game of Thrones series left in development is the House of Dragons, a prequel set to focus on House Targaryen.

Let's wait and see what happens to DMZ.
