Shang-Chi Reportedly Casts Star Trek Actress Rosalind Chao in Mystery Role

It looks like Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings could be adding yet another familiar face to its stellar cast. A new report reveals that Star Trek: The Next Generation actress Rosalind Chao could be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick in an undisclosed role.

The report from The Illuminerdi reveals that Chao is in negotiations to appear in the upcoming MCU flick that will also star Simu Liu as the titular comic book hero. Although Chao's role was not disclosed, there are speculations that she is being cast as the mother to Awkwafina's character.

This could be very mysterious indeed since the Golden Globe winner's own role in the film has not been revealed as well. Nevertheless, the report points out that she could play Fu Manchu's daughter Fah Lo Suee.

Chao being part of the MCU could be awesome considering that the actress has already made a name for herself in other franchises. She portrayed Keiko O'Brien in The Next Generation as well as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In addition to that, she has appeared in numerous TV shows like ER, The West Wing, Monk, Grey's Anatomy, and Hawaii Five-0.

For now, we can't be too sure about Chao's role in Shang-Chi. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to an official announcement from Marvel soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.

Chao will appear in Mulan, which will premiere on March 27. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is currently in production and is scheduled for release on February 12, 2021.
