Shang-Chi Leak Suggests Major Ties to the Mandarin

The novel coronavirus pandemic may have put a halt on the production of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, but COVID-19 hasn't stopped the rumor mill from chugging out new reports about the highly-anticipated Phase 4 movie.

There's a brand new Shang-Chi leak on 4chan and the post suggests that Marvel's first Asian-led comic book movie may take place during "The Snap."

While we've yet to receive any confirmation from Marvel Studios about the report, if proven true, then Shang- Chi may very well end up being another prequel entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe much like how Black Widow is a prequel to Avengers: Infinity War.

The report posits that the film will feature "a spy movie/tournament arc set during The Snap" where we see Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) growing up working for the Mandarin. Awkwafina plays the role of Shang-Chi's sister, Fah Lo Suee.

While Marvel fans know the Mandarin to be the enemy of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Shang-Chi will feature a loving and positive family dynamic between the Marvel baddie and his adoptive children, Shang-Chi and Fah Lo Suee.

Raised by the Mandarin in a good home, Shang-Chi believes that he and his family are the ones in the right, keeping the world order while his adoptive father seeks out the Ten Rings.

The leak suggests that fans are going to see Shang-Chi working for the Mandarin throughout the timeline of the MCU, helping the Mandarin behind the scenes.

It's an interesting leak, that's for sure. Not only will Shang-Chi offer fans the character's origin story, but it will allow viewers to explore the MCU through the lens of the adoptive son of a Marvel villain.

Let's wait and see whether any of these leaks come true.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to premiere on May 7, 2021.
