Shang-Chi Director Weighs In On [SPOILERS] Cameo in The Legend of the Rings

People who have headed to the theaters to watch Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings can't stop talking about THAT mid-credits scene. After all, it seemed to tease at what the future holds for the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4. However, it also featured a major cameo from a familiar face.

But did Destin Daniel Cretton call for this cameo in his first MCU flick? The director has addressed the surprise appearance in the film.

WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD! PROCEED WITH CAUTION!

In the Shang-Chi mid-credits scene, Wong takes Shang-Chi and Katy to the Sanctum Sanctorum where they have a meeting with Bruce Banner and Carol Danvers about the ten rings. The members of the Avengers discuss the mysterious attributes of the weapons and it is also confirmed that the ten rings have been emitting a signal.

Fans loved what the scene suggested and the unexpected cameo from Brie Larson and Mark Ruffalo. However, many also noted that Larson has once again reunited with Cretton, who has featured her in all but one of his films.

So did the director pull some strings to ensure Larson's cameo? Cretton told The Hollywood Reporter that although it wasn't his decision, he was happy to work with the Captain Marvel star again.

"We're all a part of every conversation about who should show up in what scenes," Cretton said. "But it happened to make sense, and nothing makes me happier than to include people that I love in the movies that I'm making."

Larson has appeared in every film Cretton directed except for his directorial debut I Am Not A Hipster. So will the two continue with their streak, perhaps in the MCU? Cretton initially says no but then adds, "Well, maybe," and laughs so it could be something to look forward to.

Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings is now screening in theaters.
