Shang-Chi Director Talks About Plans to Continue Filming After COVID-19 Shutdown

COVID-19 might have forced studios to shut down the production of highly anticipated movies and television series, however, it seems like Marvel director Destin Daniel Cretton is more than excited to return and work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Interacting with fans during an Instagram Live Question and Answer session, Cretton decided to open up about his plans for filming after then novel coronavirus quarantine is lifted.

"IG live interview w/director Destin Daniel Cretton. He said ‘We're definitely going back, definite plan in place, just dependent.' Asked about returning filming #ShangChi asked about a ‘go back date' said ‘nothing I can talk about...there's some things," the Casting Directors Cut shared on Instagram during the Q&A session on the social media platform.

We understand why Cretton would be eager to return to work. There's been a lot of excitement building up over Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Not only is the film supposed to feature the very first Asian superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it's also going to break ground as the first Marvel movie to involve a cast made up of mostly Asians.

Last month, Cretton had to self-isolate himself before production for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings had completely shut down. The director suspected that he had been infected with the novel coronavirus and so he decided to quarantine himself before production fully closed down.

Luckily, the director's tests have come back negative and now the Cretton is gearing to work on the production of the very first Shang-Chi movie.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set for release on May 7, 2021.
