After years of manifesting, Simu Liu finally realized his Marvel Cinematic Universe dream last year and I think we can all agree that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a sure-fire hit, becoming one of the successes of what has been quite a divisive Phase Four thus far.

Of course, the film isn't without flaws and even the character's creator Jim Starlin admittedly had his nitpicks about the Master of Kung-Fu's live-action debut. It turns out that while the comic book legend thought the film was good, he didn't appreciate the fact that Fin Fang Foom wasn't included in the MCU blockbuster.

Speaking with Inverse, Starlin said: 'I walked out of [Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings] just stunned. My only disappointment was that it wasn't Fin Fang Foom who was the dragon. I was waiting for a dragon in a bathing suit."

For the uninitiated, Fin Fang Foom is basically an alien that resembles a dragon and he's been entangled in different battles with the likes of Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk. It was previously rumored that the villain would appear in Shang-Chi but obviously, that didn't happen.

I totally get where Starlin is coming from but it's worth noting that the film already had Razorfist and Shang-Chi's own father Wenwu serving as its main antogonists and considering it was the Master of Kung-Fu's first live-action outing, having more than two baddies would have been an overkill.

Still, that's not to say that Fin Fang Foom will remain in the vault because it almost seems like a guarantee that he'll turn up in future Shang-Chi projects.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is streaming on Disney+.
