Shane Black Reveals New Predator Movie’s Setting & Why We Should Be Excited For The Film

Shane Black, director of the upcoming The Predator movie, recently revealed what to expect for the franchise which will be an event on the levels of Alien and Iron Man.

Speaking to Collider at CinemaCon, Black revealed exactly where the film will be set:

This one will be set in present day.

That means Arnold Schwarzenegger could still play his original character, which would have aged thirty or so years. To that, Black dodged the question with his answer, saying:

We have not talked about it, which is good because I'm not supposed to talk about it anyway. Not supposed to talk about details of the script. And I shouldn't.
...as this thing evolves and takes on more of a shape, we'll figure out how best to honor the tradition of what is really a
remarkable first movie and even parts of the rest of them as well.

Meanwhile, with regard to the script for The Predator and how Black would handle it, the director said:

...there's nothing that suggests it won't be the next thing, and I'm getting more and more excited day by day.
...to actually play with the idea of making it an event, not necessarily in scale—it doesn't have to be huge—but it just has to feel like aPredatormovie you want to see in the summer and line up for it. And that's what we're going for. Let's get back to the excitement and innovation of that original movie...

Take a look at the full interview below:

It looks like the movie is shaping up to be one great film. Certainly, Black is making sure that happens.

The Predator will be out on March 2, 2018.
