Shaman King is based on a 1998-2004 shonen manga. As is the case with many popular works, the manga received an anime adaptation while still ongoing, meaning that the ending the creators intended for us never made it to our screens. Instead, the reboot is faithful to the manga.

Shaman King follows Yoh Asakura, who fights to become the best among shamans an all-powerful being with the ability to summon spirits and manipulate the world according to their will. To achieve his dream, Yoh must come victorious out of a competition that only takes place once every 500 years.

We won't give a full recap here, as most people outside of Japan are currently unable to catch up. Those who did watch the show are pleased with the new show's much-better portrayal of Lyserg. The receptions were mixed for this episode, as some fans are growing bored, but it was nice to see many characters work together towards a common goal.

The release day for Shaman King Episode 36, titled "Ludsev and Salerm" is going to be next Thursday, the 16th of December. For the time being, it will only be available on Netflix Japan.
