The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea conducted an investigation after staff reportedly sold BTS Jungkook’s hat online.

ARMYs were left shocked and enraged after a seller attempted to sell Jungkook’s alleged hat on the online flea market platform, Bungae Jangteo, in October for a whopping $7,000. The user uploaded their ID to prove that they are working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the K-pop group went last year.

However, the police have already involved themselves in the case and recently released an update regarding the probe.

Police To Charge Seller of BTS Jungkook’s Hat

Korea JoongAng Daily quoted the police’s latest report regarding the selling of the idol’s belonging on Monday.

The Seoul Seocho Police Station revealed that the seller, who used to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, admitted to the allegation during the probe. It added that the development concluded the investigation on the former employee, disclosing it would soon release the details on what to charge them with.

The former employee, on the other hand, divulged during the investigation that they had already quit working for the ministry but did not mention when they served the department for the last time.

The Seoul Seocho Police Station now holds the case since it has jurisdiction over southern Seoul’s Seocho District.

HYBE and BTS have not responded to it yet.

The Buzz on Jungkook’s Hat Explored

It started last month when the seller posted the hat but deleted it soon after ARMYs condemned them over the sale. They also slammed them for putting a hefty price tag on an item they did not own.

“When BTS members visited the Passport Division to create diplomatic passports, Jungkook left this bucket hat in the waiting area. After reporting the hat as lost property, we waited for six months, but there was no phone call or visit to acquire the hat. Therefore, the person who found the hat now has ownership,” the former staff explained.

They turned themselves in after deleting the post.
