One of the beloved characters in the MCU is Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes, Steve Rogers' friend in World War II who became the menacing Winter Soldier after a tragic event. Eventually, he was reformed later on and, by the time that we saw in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he became a full-fledged hero along with Sam Wilson.
Some fans have been wondering about where is Bucky Barnes going to appear next after starring in the series. Unfortunately, there's no answer to that yet. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Stan revealed that he actually has no idea about when the character will be making his next appearance in the MCU. He said, "I don't, I really don't. I haven't known that for ten plus years, I always am very happy when I get to live another day, hopefully before I get too old. We'll see, anything is possible."
That might be surprising to hear for some fans since the ending of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier shows that there's a brighter future for Bucky in the MCU. There's also the fact that a fourth Captain America movie is currently in the works with Anthony Mackie starring although it is still unknown if Stan will be part of the film.
Since Bucky Barnes is still alive in the MCU, it means that he should be appearing in a future MCU project. While Stan is not aware of his character's plans for the future, it is likely that Kevin Feige and the team at Marvel Studios already know when he is going to appear next.
The question now is when can Bucky Barnes possibly appear next? One major possibility is, of course, the fourth Captain America movie since he is associated with the character. It is also likely that his next appearance will be in a fifth Avengers movie. He could show up in a series like Armor Wars or maybe in a Wakanda series since he is also associated with that world. We should be able to find out more details soon.
