Scott Pilgrim fans will only need to wait two more weeks until the new anime’s release. For those who need a bit more convincing though, Netflix shared the opening credits of the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime.
Also revealed in the opening credits is the show’s energetic theme performed by a popular Japanese band.
This isn’t the first time that Netflix showed off the upcoming anime, but it does highlight the anime’s unique art style that is both fresh and true to the original.
Original Scott Pilgrim Cast Returns for Science SARU Anime
Reports of a Scott Pilgrim anime have been circulating since January 2022. Earlier this year, Netflix finally confirmed that the anime series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has been greenlit and will premiere in late 2023.
Animating this new series is Science SARU, the notable anime studio founded by Eunyoung Choi and Masaaki Yuasa (of Inu-Oh and Devilman Crybaby fame).
Science SARU is known for creating unique titles like The Heike Story and Tatami Time Machine Blues. Thus, the studio’s style should be an interesting fit for Scott Pilgrim given the original comic’s colorful style.
What’s also notable aside from the studio is that this anime will feature the cast of the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World movie by Edgar Wright.
This means Michael Cera is back to voice the protagonist, Scott Pilgrim, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead also back as Ramona Flowers.
Even Edgar Wright is involved in the new anime as an executive producer. Wright won’t direct this anime though, as Science SARU’s Abel Góngora is helming the project.

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Reveals Opening Theme in Official Credits
After sharing trailers and an official clip, Netflix is hyping up its next anime series with the release of its official opening credits.
This isn’t a creditless opening that’s usually released by anime productions. Still, the credits show off the eye-catching style of the anime. What’s more, its opening song is also a perfect match for the visuals.

Performing the opening theme bloom is the Japanese band Necry Talkie. This band is best known for the song Fuzaketenaize, which served as the opening theme of Girlfriend, Girlfriend Season 1.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will be released worldwide on Netflix on November 17, 2023. For now, there’s no word yet on an episode count for the series.
