Scott Derrickson Teasing Doctor Strange Sequel?

Doctor Strange was one of the more popular MCU films when it came out. While it was criticized for continuing to use the MCU formula, it was praised for introducing a more mystical part of the Marvel universe and providing some fun visuals that would make anyone trippy. After Avengers: Infinity War, it seemed like we've seen the last of the doctor but if Spider-Man: Far From Home is any indication, there's a good chance that Stephen Strange can come back.

It seems like Scott Derrickson, the director of Doctor Strange, is hinting at something related to the Sorcerer Supreme. On Instagram, he shared a comic book image of Stephen and teased a big announcement for September. Could it be Doctor Strange 2?

The ending of the first film did leave room for a sequel, especially with a disillusioned Baron Mordo turning his back on magic. He even took away the mystical prowess of someone the Ancient One healed so the man is definitely on a vendetta. It's clear that his story isn't done yet and that Strange will have to deal with Mordo sooner or later, assuming he comes back at the end of Avengers 4.

Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019. Only time will tell if the film brings back Strange or if he is Infinity dust for good.
