Scoob!: New Look at Scooby and Shaggy in upcoming Reboot

Though there haven't been any trailers or teasers, WB is working on rebooting Scooby-Doo as an animated movie franchise. What's interesting is, there's a promo image released for Scoob! at the licensing expo in Brazil, and we have our first look at Scooby's best friend Shaggy.

I have to say, after the live-action films kind of bombed with Monsters Unleashed, an animated film seems to be the right direction for a reboot. What I also think is cool is that the film seems to be blending the 2D animation style with 3D, much like what happened with The PeanutsMovie and Hotel Transylvania.

The film has already assembled a full cast. Frank Welker is voicing Scooby with Gina Rodriguez (Velma), Zac Efron (Fred), and Amanda Seyfried (Daphne) onboard. Will Forte has also been cast as Shaggy, and there was even a bit of backlash that the film didn't bring back Matthew Lillard, but WB doesn't seem to be budging.

It's also interesting to note that Tracy Morgan has also been cast as Captain Caveman in the film, leading some (specifically me) to believe that WB is working on some kind of Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe. It may not be too long before we get the likes of Secret Squirrel or Penelope Pit-Stop coming to theaters soon. Then again, that's just my speculation.

Scooby-Doo is the hero of his own story in "SCOOB!," the first full-length, theatrical animated Scooby-Doo adventure, which reveals how he and his best friend Shaggy became two of the world's most beloved crime busters. The story takes us back to where it all began, when a young Scooby and Shaggy first meet, and team up with Daphne, Velma and Fred to launch Mystery Incorporated.

Scoob! is set to hit theaters this coming May 2020.
