Scott Pilgrim is coming back later this year. Ahead of its release, Netflix and Science SARU finally gave us our first look at the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime via its first teaser trailer.
This first teaser for the show features clips from the anime, including sequences that fans of the comics or the movie will be familiar with.
Plus, the trailer is also voiced, meaning fans of the 2010 movie can hear the actors return to their respective roles.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off Finally Gets First Teaser Trailer
Scott Pilgrim is a graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley that was quite popular in the 2000s. Its popularity can be partly attributed to the 2010 live-action film by Edgar Wright.
Since then, the franchise has not gotten any significant projects. But in early 2022, an anime adaptation of the comic was announced by Netflix.
This year, more details were revealed, including the fact that the live-action movie’s cast will return to play their respective roles.
Now, the anime’s first teaser has been released, giving fans over a minute of footage. Check out the teaser here:
As confirmed a few months ago, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is animated by Science SARU, the studio behind anime such as The Tatami Time Machine Blues, as well as Masaaki Yuasa's films like Inu-Oh and Ride Your Wave.
While the new Scott Pilgrim series is technically an anime, the teaser shows that the art style is a bit more cartoony and reminiscent of the original comic. But the animation is definitely along the lines of Science SARU’s works.

Netflix to Release New Scott Pilgrim Anime Later This Year
Aside from the eye-popping art style and animation, this show is shaping up to be a must-watch.
After all, it brings back the film’s original cast such as Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers.
Also back for this anime is Edgar Wright himself, though he is only the executive producer.
The show’s director is Abel Góngora who has worked on several Science SARU projects, including Star Wars: Visions' T0-B1 episode.
Based on the trailer, this anime seems to have a similar story to the live-action film.
It remains to be seen how it will differ from the movie and the original graphic novel series.
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will be released on Netflix worldwide on November 17, 2023.
