Scarlett Johansson Says Black Widow's Death in Avengers: Endgame is Permanent

The upcoming Black Widow movie has a lot of people excited since it will finally give us the solo Marvel installment we've wanted since Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Set sometime after Civil War, the movie will explore Natasha's past, introduce more Black Widow agents, and even give actress Scarlett Johansson some much-needed closure. Don't expect it to bring Natasha back after what happened in Avengers: Endgame though, at least that's what the actress claimed during a recent interview.

Johansson discussed this during an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, where she talked about the solo Marvel movie and her recent film Jojo Rabbit with Thor: Ragnarok's Taika Waititi. During the said appearance, Johansson said she is unlikely to return after what happened in Avengers: Endgame, where she sacrificed herself to get the Soul Stone for the team.

Here's what the actress said:

"Honestly, it brought a closure to me that I needed, cause I was kind of wiped out after that last oneemotionally and literally. There are very few certain things but definitely, death is pretty certain. But, people definitely don't believe it and have tried to convince me that my character did not actually die. That maybe, my character existed in an alternate universe. But no, death is a pretty final thing."

Considering how long the actress has been in the MCU, it's going to be sad seeing Johansson appear in her final Marvel movie. Granted, her character has already died in Endgame but the fact that we get to see her in one final adventure is going to make this a momentous occasion for some of us.

Black Widow comes out on May 1, 2020.
