Scarlett Johansson Confirms the Time Frame for Her Black Widow Standalone

Marvel fans might be excited to see Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) again after the heartbreaking sacrifice she made in Avengers: Endgame, but there's still some confusion over the Black Widow timeline.

When exactly is Natasha Romanoff's standalone movie going to take place?

Stopping by to speak with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Scarlett Johansson decided to talk about her upcoming Marvel movie. During the discussion, Johansson cleared things up about Black Widow's timeline.

"What can I say? Well, I think it's already out there, it takes place after the Civil War and before the Infinity War," the actress confirmed. "A lot of people have told me that the film, you know, that the film should have happened before… and they're wondering if it's too late for this movie now, but I really could never have made this film ten years ago when we first started our journey with Marvel."

That's right. Marvel fans have been badgering Marvel Studios to give Black Widow her own standalone movie for years now. Many felt that it was unfair that most of the men in the core Avengers had gotten trilogies of their own (like Robert Downey Jrs' Iron Man, Chris Evans' Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth's Thor), and yet, one of the most important members of the team, Black Widow, had yet to be given a standalone movie of her own.

Though it seems a little bit too late for a Black Widow standalone movie, we're glad that Natasha Romanoff was finally given a film of her own. Black Widow deserves it after everything she's done for the MCU.

Black Widow is set to release on May 1, 2020.
